Men’s Lunch

Our next men’s lunch will be held on Saturday 2 November at 11.30am.  The speaker is the police chaplain, The Revd Mary Giles.  She is an entertaining speaker so put this in your diaries now, cost is $12 for a two course meal.

At our last one Tony Humphreys gave an really interesting speech on “What it is like to be a rugby referee”.   It was so appropriate as there was a very important Bledisloe Cup match on that night and the rugby World Cup coming up!  The men really enjoyed learning some of the rules of rugby, camaraderie and a most delicious two-course hot meal with a very yummy dessert!!

Vestry

At the last Annual General Meeting the following people were elected:

People’s Warden:                       Christine Macey

Vicar’s Warden:                         Elizabeth Forbes

Synod Representatives:             Christine Macey, Libby Falconer.

Elected Members:                      Peter Harrison, Gay McLean,

Raewyn Dawson, Manal Al Harithi, Philip Robinson, Christine Haythornthwaite.

We welcome four new members and we are very grateful to the outgoing members;   Johnann Williams who faithfully took the Minutes for a number of years, and Margaret Robinson and Lawrence Dawson for their generous input and time given in the past.  The new Vestry will meet on the second Wednesday of the month.

Stolen Property

Please look out for the following items that have been stolen from our historic site and the people of Christchurch.   These items belonged to the original settlers of Christchurch and were left with the church as a reminder of our past heritage.  Respectfully return these items so we can place them in our future facilities for all to appreciate.

They are:  2 brass vases;  2 brass candle holders;  street lantern;  1 brass ships bell;  brass altar rails;  street lantern;  brass plaques.
